Study Guides for Manuscripts

Introduction

These are the Guides for specific manuscripts. These texts are generally used in Symposia and Conferences but may also be used in more advanced lessons.

Guide structure

Each of these guides contains the following:

  • Introduction. A guide to the manuscripts in each of three languages, a short overview of the book and a bibliography
  • The Greek text taken from Nestle-Aland
  • The Latin text taken from the Vulgate as published by the Deutsche Bibelgesellschaft
  • The Syriac text derived from the British and Foreign Bible Society’s edition
  • Notes for the Greek text
  • Notes for the Latin text
  • Notes for the Syriac text
  • Translation
  • Commentary
  • Critical Notes. These have been derived from:
    • Nestle-Aland Novum Testamentum Graece
    • Biblia Sacra Vulgata
    • Nestle-Aland Syriac Critical Edition
  • Vocabularies:
    • Greek – English
    • Greek – Latin
    • Latin – English
    • Greek – Syriac
    • Syriac – English
  • Vocabulary of Proper Names and Paces (where applicable)
