Introduction

The courses at Eroumen will help you understand the Hebrew of the Bible.The aim of the course is to enable you to read the original Hebrew and understand the sources of the Bible. This also helps in understanding the Septuagint, itself translated from Hebrew.

How is the course taught?

Teaching takes place in small groups. The courses here are available via Zoom lessons with accompanying teaching materials. Lessons are generally held in the evening or at weekends.

Do I need to be a linguist?

Don’t worry if you have never studied Hebrew before. Hebrew is a very different language from Greek, Latin or English as it is a Semitic language and not Indo-European. The course takes a step by step approach and uses Biblical text almost from the beginning.

Do I need a Hebrew Bible?

Initially the course material will be sufficient. If you wish, you can purchase the Bible in Hebrew. Various editions are available and you will be given advice on recommended texts on the course. Online resources will also be recommended.
